Custom domains
Share links on your own name, like go.yourbakery.in/menu, instead of stackly.in/menu. People trust a link that shows your brand, so more of them click.
Connect a domain Growth+
- In the left menu, under Workspace, click Domains.
- Click Connect domain.
- Type the domain in Domain / Subdomain, for example
go.yourbrand.com. A subdomain (thego.part) is best, because your main website keeps working as it is. - Click Connect Domain. The domain shows as Waiting for DNS.
Add the DNS record
DNS settings live at the company where you bought your domain. You add one record there that sends the subdomain to Stackly. The domain card shows what to type:
| Field | What to type |
|---|---|
| Type | CNAME |
| Name / Host | Only the subdomain part, for example go |
| Value / Points to | stackly.in |
Where to add it:
- GoDaddy: open My Products, find the domain and open its DNS settings, then add a new record.
- Hostinger: in hPanel, open Domains, pick the domain, then open its DNS settings and add a record.
- Cloudflare: open the domain, go to DNS → Records and click Add record. Set the proxy to DNS only (grey cloud).
Sometimes the card also asks for one or two TXT records (under "Also add these records"). Add them the same way. They prove the domain is yours and let us set up HTTPS.
Then, back in Stackly:
- On the domain card, click Check DNS. You can also just wait: Stackly checks again every 10 minutes.
- When the status changes to Verified, HTTPS turns on by itself within a few minutes. It's free.
Use the domain
- Links: when you create a link, pick your domain in the Domain list. Only verified domains appear.
- Event pages: pick it next to Event link on the event form.
Pause or remove a domain
- To pause it, turn off the Live switch on the card. It then shows Paused, and its links stop opening until you turn it back on.
- To remove it, click the bin icon (Remove domain) and confirm.
caution
When you remove a domain, every short link on it stops working until you add the domain back.
Good to know
- Custom domains aren't included in Free or Starter. On those plans the page asks you to upgrade.
- Each plan allows a set number of domains. You can see yours under Billing & Plans → Custom Domains.
- Statuses: Waiting for DNS (record not found yet), Verified (ready to use) and DNS check failed (record missing or wrong).
Troubleshooting
- Check DNS fails on Cloudflare → The record is set to Proxied (orange cloud), which hides the CNAME. Click the cloud so it turns grey (DNS only), save, then click Check DNS again.
- Status says DNS check failed → Check all three fields, wait a while, then click Check DNS again. A DNS change can take up to 24–48 hours to work everywhere.
- Visitors see "This domain isn't set up yet", or you get "Your Custom domain is not active" → The domain is paused. Turn its Live switch back on.
- My domain isn't in the Domain list → It isn't verified yet. Finish the DNS step first.
