Password and security
Keep your account safe with a strong password, and sign out on shared computers. All of this lives in Preferences (the account menu at the bottom of the left menu).
Change your password
- Open Preferences. You land on Profile.
- In the Security box, click Change Password.
- Type a New Password, then type it again in Confirm New Password.
- Click Update Password.
Use at least 8 characters, with a capital letter and a number. You don't need your old password, so never leave Stackly open on a shared computer.
Add a password if you signed up with Google or GitHub
Accounts made with Google or GitHub have no password at first. To also sign in with your email and a password:
- Sign in with Google or GitHub.
- Follow the steps in change your password above.
From then on you can sign in either way. If you can't sign in at all, use Forgot password? on the sign-in page to set one by email. See create your account.
Sign out
- Click your name at the bottom of the left menu.
- Click Log Out.
If you ticked Keep me signed in, you stay signed in for 7 days. Otherwise it's 1 day.
Check who did what
You can see a record of actions in the workspace under Preferences → Audit Logs. See audit logs.
Delete your account
Only the account Owner can do this.
- Open Preferences → Account.
- Scroll to Danger Zone and click Delete Account.
- Confirm in the window that opens.
This deletes the whole workspace: your team members' logins, links and visiting cards. It can't be undone, and your short links stop working.
Good to know
- Stackly has no list of signed-in devices or "sign out everywhere" button. If you think someone else knows your password, change it straight away.
- Team members who aren't the Owner see Owner only instead of the delete button.
Troubleshooting
- The password won't save → The form accepts 6 characters, but Stackly needs at least 8. Make it longer.
- "Passwords do not match" → Type the same password in both boxes.
- "It looks like you registered with Google or GitHub" → You haven't added a password yet. Sign in with Google or GitHub, or use Forgot password?.
