Smart openers
When someone taps a YouTube or Instagram link inside another app, it often opens in a small browser where they aren't logged in. They can't subscribe, follow or buy in one tap, so many give up. Smart openers fix this: on a phone, your Stackly short link opens the real app instead.
When to use it
- A creator puts a YouTube video link in an Instagram bio, so fans land in the YouTube app, already logged in, one tap from Subscribe.
- A shop shares an Amazon product link on WhatsApp, so buyers open the Amazon app with their cart and saved address.
Supported apps
| App | Links that open in the app |
|---|---|
| YouTube | Videos, Shorts, channels |
| Posts, Reels, profiles | |
| X (Twitter) | Posts, profiles |
| Spotify | Tracks, albums, playlists and more |
| Amazon | Products and store pages |
| Profiles and posts | |
| Telegram | Channels and users (t.me links) |
Create a smart opener
There's nothing to switch on.
- Create a short link to a page on one of the apps above.
- Share the short link as normal.
When someone opens it on an iPhone or Android phone, they see a short Opening… screen and the app starts. If the app isn't installed, the page opens in the browser instead. They can also tap Continue in browser. On a computer, the link opens the page as usual.
Check a link before you share it
- Go to the Smart App Openers & Deep Links page (
/crm/smart-openersin Stackly). - Paste your link into Target Destination URL, or click an example under Example Presets.
- Read Detected Platform to see which app it will open.
- Click Open Web URL to check the page itself.
Good to know
- Smart opening works on short links on every plan.
- The checker page needs the Growth plan or higher.
- Smart openers aren't used on event pages or links with a password.
Troubleshooting
- The link opened the browser, not the app → The app may not be installed, or the link points to a page type the app can't open (for example Instagram Explore). Check it on the checker page.
